What Family Means to Me

Family isn't the people related by blood like your mom, dad, brother(s), or sister(s). It's the people who love you, care for you and, stay by your side no matter what. It's the people who make you feel the best. They will stay by your side and help you in the hardest of times.

In the article "Stone Soup" the author ,Barbara Kingsolver, interprets her idea on family. "Any family is a big empty pot, save for what gets thrown in. Each stew turns out different. Generosity, a resolve to turn bad luck int good, and respect for variety - these things will nourish a nation of children Name-calling and suspicion will not. My soup contains a rock or two of hard times, and yours does too. I expect it's a heck of a bouillabaisse." (Kingsolver 31). Here she says that each family is different and made up of different "ingredients".

In "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" by Betty Smith, her idea on family is explained.
"To being together, always." (Betty Smith 403). Francie said this cause family should always be together and she never wants to give up on her own family. The Nolan family is perfect for this quote because they know they aren't perfect but they never give up on each other.

Family is important no matter. So are the people who love you and you love back. It's up to you to make up your family but you should never let them go.
