Body Biography of Charles Darnay

In this drawing I added 3 objects that symbolize Charles Darnay. First is the trashcan. In the trashcan, I filled it with coins and dollar bills. I did this because Charles does care about money, but does not care about the way his family made it. Second, the two flags. The top flag is the French flag and the bottom is the England flag. This is because he from France to England to escape his past, which was his family and all the bad deeds they did. The last object is the paper bag. The paper bag with eye wholes usually represents shame and I added it for Darnay's feelings towards his family.

"I must do, to live, what others of my countrymen, even with nobility at their backs, may have to do some day-work" (Dickens 95).  In this quote, Darnay explains what he wants to do with his new life. In his "new life" he will make his money how everyone else does, working, and refuses to accept the money his family made.

A Tale Of Two Cities Light vs. Darkness Analysis

In chapter 6 of A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens uses light and darkness to set the tone of hope and hopelessness. First, it says "You can bear a little more light." (Dickens 36). In this event as the door is opening, more and more light is coming into the room but thats not what it initially means. The quote is referencing Lucie as the light and how as she walks in she will shine upon her father. Then, Dickens says "The darkness deepened and deepened, as they both lay quite, until a light gleamed through the chunks in the wall." (Dickens 36). In this quote, they were about to leave Lucies father. When is says the "darkness deepened"  it means Lucie (light) is about to leave, so it is darkening. Finally, in the book it says "his cold white head mingled with her radiant hair, which warmed and lighted it as though it were the light of freedom shining on him." (Dickens 34). Here, Lucie is laying her head on her father. Whilst she does this, he notices the resemblance between Lucie's hair and her mother's and it warms him up. By "warming up" it mean Lucie is racalling him to life. In conclusion, Charles Dickens uses light and darkness to portray the sadness, hopelessness, hopefulness, and love the characters are feeling in chapter 6.

"The wine shop"

This is a 1st person view of a citizen that is scooping up wine from the ground with his hands.

When the wine spilled, everyone from around the area went running to drink it off the ground.  Men, women, mothers, fathers, and even children drank it from off the dirt ground and cared no less then one another. Everyone was happy, having a cheerful time but I don't believe that's the only thing the author meant by it. I think he was foreshadowing that something wrong was going to happen soon. "the wine was red wine, and had stained the ground of the narrow street in the suburb of Saint Antoine in Paris, where it was spilled. It had stained many hands, too, and many faces, and many naked feet, and many wooden shoes...scrawled upon a wall with his fingers dipped in muddy wine lees-BLOOD." By this he meant that the "wine stains" are actually blood stains yet to come.

"The time was to come, when that wine too would be spilled on the street stones, and when the stain of it would be red upon many there." That means that the red stains are interpreted as the wine stains and the future blood stains.  "And now that the cloud settled in Saint Antoine, which a momentary gleam had driven from his sacred countenance, the darkness of it was heavy-cold, dirt, sickness, ignorance, and want, were the lords in waiting on the saintly presence-nobles of great power all of them; but, most especially the last. That quote makes me think that in the bad scenario that ends in bloodshed, people of great power are involved. That is why it mentioned "most especially the last".

What Family Means to Me

Family isn't the people related by blood like your mom, dad, brother(s), or sister(s). It's the people who love you, care for you and, stay by your side no matter what. It's the people who make you feel the best. They will stay by your side and help you in the hardest of times.

In the article "Stone Soup" the author ,Barbara Kingsolver, interprets her idea on family. "Any family is a big empty pot, save for what gets thrown in. Each stew turns out different. Generosity, a resolve to turn bad luck int good, and respect for variety - these things will nourish a nation of children Name-calling and suspicion will not. My soup contains a rock or two of hard times, and yours does too. I expect it's a heck of a bouillabaisse." (Kingsolver 31). Here she says that each family is different and made up of different "ingredients".

In "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" by Betty Smith, her idea on family is explained.
"To being together, always." (Betty Smith 403). Francie said this cause family should always be together and she never wants to give up on her own family. The Nolan family is perfect for this quote because they know they aren't perfect but they never give up on each other.

Family is important no matter. So are the people who love you and you love back. It's up to you to make up your family but you should never let them go.

Sacred of the ordinary. By Justin Gelvez

Most people don't find cleats important but I do. It's not the cleats but what they mean to me. Soccer represents my childhood. It is my dream. All I want in life is to become a professional soccer
High school I was on the freshman team, but on the last day I was called up to tryout for Junior varsity. The coach liked me and chose me to play for him. I have been playing with old cleats for 3 years and my mother promised that if I made JV she would buy me new cleats.
Soccer is the most important thing in my life. I know that school is important too because if I do bad I wont make it anywhere in life. Right now I'm not doing the best but I'm really trying.
It's really hard to write this because words can't express my love for soccer. I would marry soccer if I could but I cant so I wont.
I first started playing soccer when I was around 3 years old. At that age I loved to play but I didn't think of it as much. Once I got older ,5,  I started playing on a team. We were called Jackals. Our colors were red and black.
When I was around 8, my dad started to train me. We would go to the Joyce fields and he would teach me how to shoot. It's one of the only things we have in common. Our bond grew stronger and stronger.
But when I was around 10 my dad had to get another job. He now had 2 and had no time for me. I rarely saw him and we never went to practice anymore. I thought if I did very well in soccer he would notice me more. So I went to my backyard everyday and practiced alone. I had no room to shoot so I practiced ball control and skill moves. Hour by hour I would be outside.
Now I'm 15 and I'm on the JV team. My dad only comes to home games which are at the Joyce and it makes me feel so happy. No matter what the outcome is, win or lose, he tells me how I played. He doesn't have much chill when it comes to his input but that's better for me. If he says I played well I would try to play better next match so he can say it again. If he says I played bad or could have done better I would try to play better next match. Of course I get sad cause I couldn't impress my dad but that just makes me want to get better.
My mom and sister have never gone to one of my games but I'll be waiting to impress them.
My really old goal was to impress my father. My less older goal was to make JV for high school. My current goal is to make varsity. Then to play professional. I want to make the  Argentinian International team and F.C. Barcelona.
I will never give up for as long as I live.

Day 3
hour 9:23 pm
       I forgot day 2.
It wasn't cool anyway. Just soccer and sleep and food.

Well today was something. I had soccer practice and a drug assembly at 7.
The bad part was that I had the same assembly in 8th grade.
I should start homework. I have a crossword puzzle for Spanish and a test in English.
It's around 20 questions long . That's a lot.
